Max: From Service to Serenity
Max spent 8 years protecting California State Parks as a narcotics detection dog. After retirement, he struggled with arthritis and anxiety from his years of service. Through our medical care program, Max now receives monthly veterinary treatment, pain management, and physical therapy. His handler visits twice a week, and Max spends his days enjoying a comfortable home where he receives the care and love he deserves.
Luna: Lifelong Bond
Luna worked as a search and rescue K9 for 10 years, helping protect visitors throughout California's parks. Her handler, Officer Sarah Chen, couldn't imagine life without her. Through our lifelong support program, Luna now lives with Sarah and her family, with all medical expenses covered. Sarah says Luna has found peace in her retirement and continues to be an ambassador for park safety education programs.
Rocky: Second Chances
Rocky was a border patrol detection dog before transitioning to California State Parks. He retired with significant hip dysplasia and needed immediate surgical intervention. Our medical care program funded his surgery, and he's now thriving. Rocky participates in public awareness events, helping children understand K9 service while demonstrating the importance of supporting retired working dogs.
